The other driver is lucky she wasn't killed. Despite your calm demeanor, you must have been tempted....

Forty-five miles per hour is really cookin' for an accident like that. It's too bad that the best car to be in an accident in is also the last car you'd ever want to wreck.

Best of luck.

LOL, not only is this a ludacrous statement, IT DOESN'T MATTER... she was in the wrong... 1) she was altering her course.. not you 2) she was turning left.. always in the wrong turning left across traffic 3) if she supposedly saw you there... why the hell turn... duh!?!?! Bottom line, she was at fault. she pays.
I say take her for as much as you can get... it's not her money anyhow.. it is the insurance companys money, hehe, go the road ensteele has suggested.. insist that it be repaired, not totaled, as it is a collectors car. and you wont be satisfied until it was better than it was to begin with.

I am so glad to hear you were not hurt more seriously! The car can be replaced, you can't! Make sure that they know that this car is not just another car. Good luck on the settlement and getting better.

First off, I'm glad your still alive. Cars can be replaced, people can't. As for the above quote, I guess laws are really different state to state. I write accident reports every day. In my state, there would be a 50/50 split of responsabilty because of the circumstances. Hopefully, you have a good insurance company and they will fight for you. Take care.

I'd also like to thank everyone for the advice. This is my first car wreck, and all advice is welcome. I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow to check out my foot that has mysteriously swollen twice as big as the other one over night. I'll mention the other stuff and see where we can go with it.

Oh, I also talked to the insurance adjusters. The girl in the SUV is claiming that I "sped up" to hit her on purpose or something, so now my insurance company gets to fight her insurance company.

3 reasons why her account of the story don't make sense:

1) I'd NEVER damage my SVX... or myself on purpose.
2) If she saw me speeding up, that means that either she was watching me, which doesn't make sense, because she saw me coming and STILL turned.
3) I'd never damage my SVX!!

Looking back on those pictures.. she looks loaded. Custom grill, nice rims, DVD player, TV screens in the seats. If she isn't willingly going to give me what I'm entitled to because of her mistake, then I might just ask for way more and get it! bwah ha ha!
Well, if she said that you sped up, it makes no difference, she made the decision in the first place to make the turn, regardless of what you were doing, you were still there..period. I had an accident similar to this a very long time ago. I had an 87 Long Tail Fiero GT, which were notorious for poor braking when cold. I was heading to work when some fellow in an Escort turned left in front of me. Knowing that the hit was inevitable, I just aimed for his 'B' pillar, at least when we hit it would be dead on rather than an angle. I aimed for it, had no other choice. I bent the hell out of the Escort, which I hit a 30 mph and slowing down. The damage to my GT, $120.00 for the front bumper cover, a small hole. When I hit, it was like hitting a sponge, really odd feeling. Of course he was charged and his insurance company paid, but it was weird. The adjuster kept asking about my foot. I said there was nothing wrong with it, I was uninjured. She asked me if I was the hitchhicker whose foot he ran over !!!! Needless to say they could not find him, he was a Haitian fellow who lived apparently in a PO Box.

Wow that brought a tear to my eye seeing my own car (silver) like that

I'm really suprised the car is that damaged... did the side door hit anything or did it bend from the impact?

Glad you are ok though... sue the pants off her if she can afford rims and the rest of the bling... how old was the girl?

The hood flew off in the first impact. I hit her passenger door with the front of my car, and my car got lodged into her car. Her momentum in that giant behemoth then pulled me to the right, putting me into a 180 degree turn in the intersection, which freed me from her car and brought my side around to smack the side and rear of her car. Check out the beautiful tire mark on my door where we collided on the second impact.

I was doing 45 mph, and I was told she was going faster than she should have been when she made the turn. As for how old she is, I'm told she was young.. I'm guessing teens or early 20s. I didn't really look at her. The cops did all the communication between us. We were on opposite sides of the road, and I was too distracted with my injuries to look at her much. I just remember her kneeling on the ground in hysterics and wailing as if she suffered the greater loss.

It's great that we're both alive still. Looking at the pictures, it should have been a lot worse. I think I might send a letter to Subaru and send them the pics and thank them for making the car so solid that it saved me in that impact. That SVX served me well all the way to the end, even holding up for that final impact so well.

Must.. get... another one..

First and Foremost, Im glad you walked away with what appear to be minor injuries.
From the look of things it could have been a lot worse!
You can always get another SVX but there is only one you

I would also advise going to doctors outside of those you saw at the ER for a THOUROUGH check-up, even thought the injuries you sustained seem minor they can hide worse, and can come back to haunt you in the future.

Now if you will excuse me, Im going to go throw up as looking at those pictures made me sick, cause it could have just as eaisly been my Silver

So far those pics freak out 3 other silver owners

That would be nice if you wrote a letter and subaru responded back and gave you an STI or something

And I hope they total her car, though it doesnt look that bad

sucks about the car, im glad to hear you are ok.

if that was me, and i was in your shoes, i would sue that person for all she's worth. i know you probably would feel bad, but she is trying to pin this on _you_. under these circumstances you should really seek legal consultation outside of the insurance company, if they are trying to jerk you around even a little bit. this is an unfortunate incident, but you should get compensated so you can get back in the road with a new SVX!

just thriowing that out there, cuz i have been fuxored b4 in that sort of situation.

best of luck
hope the neck feels better

Unhappy

ooopsss!!!, thts very sad. Gr8t to hear tht u r alive and recovering. Go to different hospitals and have complete check-ups. Some doctors may find wrong where some doctors can't, it is always better to consult multiple doctors at these times especially specialists.

Yeah thts the gr8tness of Subaru, it always tries to protect its beloved owners.

Hope u will find a new one soon.

have a speedy recovery,
-Pavan.

I think it could be fixed...for one-hundred billion dollars!

It's good to see you still have a sense of humor in a time like this. I hope you make a 100% recovery.

To be honest about the car, keep it for parts when you get another one. It's always amazing to see what kind of SVX accidents people walk away from.

Also remember it would have been much worse. For example, check the "wrecked car" in wawazat??'s personal locker. That person also walked away.
