Keys stuck in the ignition what should i do?

A couple of days ago i used my spare key to start my SVX, it worked fine untill i tired to take it out and it wouldent come out, it wouldent go past the ACC mode. The weird thing is that if i turn the key to the on postion it easiley comes out, and can be put back in, but if i try to put the "good" key in it won't accept it. Any idea on what i should do?

I think that's a new one to me. Are the grooves different between the keys? Is one key more noticably worn than the other? Is the ignition loose at all?

wiggle it till it works.

I once used a 94 key on my 92 once and took a while to get it to come out.

Could the "park" lock solinooid be not disengaging?,

Keeping it from going to the "off" position?

Keep us posted on what it takes to fix it.

Yes the keys are noticabley difrent, there are a couple of ridges that are missing on the "bad" key.

Iam going to check to the lock solinoid, or if the wires are hooked up.

My users manual for my car indicates a switch under a panel on the steering wheel to release the key. I suggest looking it up in yours. It sounds like the park lock. My key does the same thing if I'm not in park.

I had the same problem with a 91 legacy when the seat belt fuse blew out.

I Had Some Keys Cut At Walmart. They Looked Fine.i Didn't Notice Any Problem Until The Key Would Not Come Back Out.

Walmart Had Cut The Correct Key Blank Without Getting The Key All The Way Into The Key Cutter.

They Paid For A Locksmith To Remove Their Old Key And Recut My Keys Properly.

I HAVE A 2002 LANDROVER DISCOVERY AND A 95 AEROSTAR
THE KEY GETS STUCK EVEN ON FLAT GROUND AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKS IT . IT CAN TAKE LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE ME LATE FOR WORK.
USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE KEEPS IT FROM LOCKING.

WILL SPRAYING SOME KIND OF LUBE IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER
PREVENT THE LOCK UP?
Sheesh I Can Just Barely Read This Little Print Even In Capitals.

I know it is more expensive than at WalMart, but I go to the dealer and get mine cut there. They don't go off of your key. They go by the key number so it will be perfect every time (I hope).

I second this, and make all my keys like this. You also get the added bonus of an OEM style key.

I had a difficult time trying to get someone to cut my OEM key blanks. Most people only cut brass keys. The OEM's are much harder than brass.

Is it turning all the back?? If not, there is a small lever under the dash that is sunk into the plastic cover. Just push the lever over and it should allow you to turn the key all the way back and pull it out. I had my 94lsi 5 speed get stuck once and it took all day to find out what the heck was happening
