Need a quick advice?

Hi all,
today i had my SVX checked up at the dealer.

My problems and concerns:
1) Shifting from 1 to 2 is around 3200 rpm.
2) Rpms are staying high around 1800 even in 4th gear and even after the TCU lock-up.
3) Engine is just winding up with out doing wht it is supposed to do in power mode. (i.e it justs downshifts and pulls the car for 2-3 secs and then winds up, means it is just increasing its rpms). Hope i am clear in this.

Dealer suggestions/findings:
1) For high rpm shifting/winding up-
(a)"there is something to do in the valve body tht is not working fine"
(b)"there is also something wrong with the clucthes"

But all the 4 gears are in working condition except tht high rpms which i am worrying abt.
Now wht should i have to do, i badly need my car back on the road in perfect condition. And also do you guys know anything that we can add up to the transmission fluid so tht it will take off the sludge from the trans body.

Recent work tha ti have done:
1)changed the trans internal filter
2)Installed external cooler and filter
3)Changed the P/S O-Ring (changed the fluid to synthetic)

thanks for any help or advice you can give me...

Pavan.

Hi Pavan, I assume that you mean it is slipping in 1/2 change and in 4th. Do the band adjustment as you have suggested in the other post. If it is the band it should fx it.

Harvey.

Get that PS fluid out of the resevoir!!! The manual clearly says to use tranny fluid...it even says it on the PS cap. Using regular PS fluid will ruin the system.

I doubt it will ruin the system. I've run PS fluid without issue and some people may even say that the only difference beterrn PS fluid and ATF is taste (or color )

Ok guys,

tell me wht exactly is goin on with the fluids?

How many of you are using tranny fluid' as P/S fluid and what are the consequences in both cases?

you are right Soobiesvx93, manual states to use tranny fluid. But is there any peoblem in using P/S fluid (I mean do you remember' any situations' where it went bad?).

thanks,
-Pavan.

I would say that most, if not very close to all, of us are using ATF in the power steering system - if for no other reason than the manual tells us to. Will power steering fluid harm your power steering system? I have no idea. I doubt it. But I still stick with what the manual tells me to use. I'm not in the habit of changing one fluid to another just because I don't think it'll do any damage.
