Finally got some work done today. Not really six speed related but still had to get it done.

Swapped out the ABS system for a non ABS system form a FWD L model. Damn that ABS pump is a heavy *****. And so much extra space under the hood.

I also got my new pedal assembly in with WRX pedals. Still got to put in the clutch master and mod the gas pedal but I'm at the point where I can put in the Tranny.

So now I just need the place I ordered all the stuff from to get there **** together and send me the rest of my stuff. I'm still waiting on the flywheel and clutch along with other stuff.
Hopefully I'll get them this week so I can stuff the tranny in next weekend.

Yay! Progress

How much time did it take you to swap out the ABS? Did you also remove all of the tone wheels? Have you had a chance to see how much weight you ended up removing?

I'll work on the pics.

I'm not sure how long it would take to just swap out the ABS system. I worked on it from 1:30 to 7:30 last night but that was also doing all the pedal fabrication. And that does not include taking the lines out of the other car. I did remove the rear tone wheels when I was doing the rear bearings, but the fronts will stay in untill I have to do thoes.

I'm not sure about the total weight, the ABS pump is heavy but the tone wheels and ECU don't weigh that much. All together, every little bit helps. I'll try to remember to bring and old scale to work.

What a coincidence! but I am just waiting to enjoy a full engine + tranny + ECU tuneup !! I don't want to install one before the other, I am buying the whole things I need before I install everything in my car !! by the way, how much did it cost you this tranny (in the states)?

Well I wish I had room in the shop to keep mine but I have to push it in and out everytime I work on it.

I paid about $5,000 for everything, Tranny, flywheel, clutch, starter, R-180 rear, and axels.

Here's a pic, not much to look at but a missing ABS pump.

The pump weighs about 18lbs, so all together I might have lost 20lbs.

Also check out this pic of a JDM clutch master next to a USDM one.

It has the remote filler that we need but it also has a wierd two line set up. Two lines come out of the master and run to a T-block, then go into one line over to the slave. I'm trying to find out if the USDM STI's have a two line master or not. I'd like to use the remote fill but I don't really want to use all the extra lines and stuff.

over here I got the tranny + rear differential + clutch + custom metal thing = $1700. I still need the pedals... no more than 300$ and installation for free (my friendsssss....)

Wow, It looks like you'll have all the kinks worked out so by the time I save up enough for the setup, you can toss it right in no problem....Hahah

It is looking good though. Did you remove the ABS setup just on a weight-saving basis, or is there another reason?

Jesse,
It will be interesting to see if you notice any difference w/o the ABS. After a year of autocrossing, I'm not convinced the ABS does anything in the '92 model year....
-Bill
p.s. look at all the room for a much bigger air box!! Or a turbo....
