Brake Caliper Rattle

Having been plagued with this rattle every time I so much as run over a little rough textured asphalt, let alone a pothole, personhole cover, etc. since I did the brakes, rebuilt calipers and rotors on the front I think I may have figgered it out. Yes, it stops with brake application. I also searched and read everything I could find in this forum. Since assuming ownership of my "sailboat SVX" I have also replaced the front swaybar bushings with poly bushes, ball-joints and swaybar links. Looking again at my manuals and reading through the replacement procedures and parts diagram I "DOH'd" heavily to find 2 brake pad clips, part #12 in this diagram: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=262-A
that I don't recall being part of my remove and replace process. I would never toss anything without having replacements.

I now have 4 on order at Subaruparts.com for just under $6 ea. My local "stealership" quoted me $8.55 each, plus 7.75% sales tax and would have had to order them too. Asked me if I had used "genuine Subaru pads" which I did not and informed me the clips are part of their pad kit. Oh well, he made no offer to reduce the price after being told I could get them on-line, even after my probably 50 trips in over the last 8 years of "visiting" them, and all knowing me by first name. On top of that Trish at SP.com waived shipping after my 40 min wait to tt her. Couldn't remember PW to order on-line.

Looking forward to being rattle-free soon!!

I think my caliper is rattling when i go over bumps too. But it could also be the red ring on my rims that is hiding the lugnuts. I tapped the ring to see what noise it made and it was the same noise.
