Porsche wheels

Mat,

Nice picture!

I have always thought the Porsche wheels were the most compatible with stock SVX wheels. I don't believe they are directional though, and if not, spokes go forward on one side and backward on the other. Subaru paid close attention to the details, giving SVX right and left wheels.

I had a set lined up

and may still even try a set one day...
most porsches come with 18x8 and 18x11s..
I just need a set of 18x8 all around.
I have custom billet adaptors already lined up
those will have to have 12mmx1.5 studs to accomodate
the correct Porsche lug nuts too.
Lot of work and $ for different rims

Those wheels are sick looking. Plus you get the nice Porsche emblem on the center cap! I'd be interested in purchasing some of those custom hubs if they were ever produced.

How does the backspacing compare with stock wheels? Would it be possible to use spacers/adaptors?

It would work
stock offsets around +50 - +55 mm
so a 10mm spacer would still work fine

if your replacing the hub why not a brake wheel conversion. those brakes are huge they can do it for a fiero why not the svx?

Hey...sorry for the absence. I was driving home to NM from MI. Anyway, the brake conversion would be awesome, but then there's the issue of getting brackets made to adapt to the stock mounting points...probably not too diffiuclt, but who knows. I would GUESS that there are rotors out there that could be used without any custom modifiction. Maybe once I get settled and (hopefully) have a daily different daily driver then I can dig in and look at this more carefully. Maybe we coud do it at your shop, Dayle Maybe soembody could dig up 4 right side fronts so it'd be a full set of 18x8 directionals. lol...that'd be a nightmare, I think!

Edit:
Would this open up doors for better bearings as well?

those are found on Boxster S's, but they are originally from the 911 Turbo. the spokes are hollow, and they cost a frickin' mint.

you can get replicas by Mille Miglia (Cup3's). i can't find any info on other lug sizes, but they may make them in other-than-Porsche size.

If Subaru could make directional wheels, why can't Porsche? If Porsche mounts directional tires, the wheels can't be rotated anyway.

Can a bolt pattern changing spacer be made from 10mm? I thought in order to safely thread lugs into a spacer it would need to be at least 15mm, mine are 25mm, but don't change the lug pattern.

one way or another

Im pretty sure I could get the adaptors made correctly
and safely...and keep the wheel inside the wheelwell.
As far as no lefts or rights, I could easily live with that.
It doesnt bug me, they look like they could run either
way....think Porsche did that on purpose

One of the things I liked about them was how close they were to stock offset. Putting spacers in there would just mess all that up. I guess it's waaaay easier than custom hubs, though. But, seriously, if a custom hub were to be made, what would prevent the use of new bearings? I suppose then we'd be looking at a custom knuckle, too, with the proper bore for whatever bearing the Boxster uses???
