government gross polluter buyback program?(cali) general car question
I rmemeber hearing about a california government program
that would buy cars from you that met certain restrictions * gross polluter * older than XXX years just to keep them off the road? I also remember 500 dollars as the amount. Can someone confirm, deny, or obfuscate my recollection? official info/websites, forms or hearsay welcomed I need more info for my dads old cadillac. My svx smog tests reveals it to be the cleanest running car in the family

Yes, you are correct, and if I've heard correctly, I believe they've upped the dollar amount to $800. And there is a $1000 offer if they car doesn't pass smog. You'd want to contact the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. They're the ones that handle the administration of that program.
