Just bought a 92 Pearlie via this board!

The cherry 92 Pearlie that I bought from "Prowler" on the SXV Network forum arrived today. It's better than I'd hoped, and I'm very glad to be an SVX owner! I've been lurking here for the long time, learning about SVX's waiting for the right time. Finally it all came togother- the right car, the right time, and enough scratch to pay for it. :-)

Here it is if anyone cares to look:

Cheers,

Craig

Craig - congratulations on getting the car! I always figure we have lurkers on this board, and I'm glad when they come forward.

I hope your SVX serves you well and provides you with many thousands of happy miles. Be good to it and it'll be good to you!

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I used a Sony F707 digital, and I set the shutter for 20 seconds for the neon shot, and set the flash to "forced on" so it'd combine the flash with the ambient light to show the neon. Stay tuned and I'll explain why the neon is there. :-)

Re: Yikes!!

Thanks Mitch. Yikes is right, I have to agree! I hope I don't step on anyone's toes with this comment, but I'm NOT a neon type of guy, let me tell you. I'm an old fart, and got so mad at all the goofy inaccuracies in the "Fast and Furious" movie that smoke came out of my ears. :-) I'm the first guy to giggle at slammed 4 door Civics with their one "performance" option being the coffee-can exhaust COVER they have mounted over the stock muffler.

The reason my othewise tasteful and restrained SVX has neon is that the original owner bought the vehicle new at a car show and didn't realize that the neon he saw glowing all around the car on the display stand was actually mounted to the car! When whe went to pick it up at the dealership he found out about it, and thought "What the hell, I'll just ignore it" and never turned it on. He was 58 years old when he bought the car, and I'd imagine that undercar neon was pretty unusual in '92.

After I bought the car from him last week, he told me what the tiny little switch on the lower left of the dash was for. I laughed pretty hard! I've since found out that it's a *great* tool to hassle my old-timer buddies and embarass the crap out of them by turning it on with them in the car. I'd have never installed neon myself, but it's turned out to be great fun, especially with a 43 year old bald guy with NO sense of shame at the wheel. :-)

i had the same color under my pearlie...until i got rearended...you can search the post if you want, the nasty old guy got what he deserved!

just be careful, the svx is low to the ground and can break the tubes easily.

i like the fact that you can only see this type of lighting if they are on. i have seen some crappy lighting jobs and it just looks tacky...i think the neons add the "spaceship" look to the svx...and hey, old guys can be fast and furious too

More pics if you're interested!

Thanks for all the encouragment and welcome!

I took some more SVX photos this weekend, in a more photogenic setting than my driveway this time. They're at http://craig.howell.net/svx ...

Happy Holidays (for the US crowd, anyway!),
