i don't really think the SVX Network is in danger of destroying itself in a violent civil war because of a few of us knuckleheads in the Off Topic forum. if people are so EXTREMELY sensitive to a few printed jabs, simply*don't read the off-topic posts!* in fact, don't read the newspaper, turn on the TV, or even leave the house. your extremely sensitive ego will be damaged beyond all repair.

no hard feelings, Rob - i was a little cranky yesterday (and today, too, judging by the above post ) however, i must say that the driver of the SRT-4 could probably have been driving a VW Beetle and beat most of the ass-clowns who enter that race. alot of the 1LapofAmerica drivers have more money than driving skill.
Peace loving hippie? Ha! Well I tried, I'm tired of writing all these long thought out threads, having a bunch of prominent members agree with me on and offline, and then nothing happen. If things are going to step up a notch here and more spirited discussions are going to happen, the old guard is either going to do two things. Leave, or join in. Some have already started to leave. I think I'll join in for now. Personal life is starting to get a little rocky so I can certainly take out some frustration here joining in these spirited discussions that are not flame wars.

Ya know, between this comment (which contains a lot of bad information) and you buying a posermobile SUV....

Anyway, yeah, the interior sucks. The engine and suspension are great. So's the transmission (if its a manual). What annoys me to no end is how blind you are to the SVXs faults. ****ty transmission? Yep. Underpowered? Yep. Sunroofs and sunvisors that get limp? Yep. Paint that chips easily? Yep. Handles like a yacht? Yep. Most people who bought the SVX new, are NOT here. They are no longer SVX enthusiasts, nor are they in this community. I think that says something about our cars....

>yawn< Ya know, I seem to remember somebody talking about selling the SVX...and looking into new cars... they said they liked the new SRT4... who was that? OH yeah! It was you!

Anyway, Neons are just as reliable as civics these days. They had a headgasket problem. That's it. Other than that, they are extremely durable. True, a Civic has much better fit and finish, but have you ever DRIVEN a civic? If I had a choice between a 1998 Neon R/T or a 1998 Civic DX, the choice is obvious. One is peppy, torquey, has a great suspension, and looks fun, the other is slow, has no torque whatsoever, has a limp mush suspension, and looks like a lemming car.

Exactly. I've never said how great the fit and finish is of these cars, in fact, I've said quite the opposite. My neon had a rattly crappy plastic interior. But MAN it was fun to drive!

The SVX, while having a great interior, and I think is a better car than the neon... is somehow not as fun to drive. I think stiffer suspension, a manual transmission, and more horsies would change that.

So I suppose you'll say turbo Mitsubishi engines are crappy... as well as the new Mini Cooper S supercharged engine.... the Mini's engine is a Chrysler design, and basically ALL of the dodge turbo engines are mitsu products... Hell, they even mad e plymouth LASER, which is basically an eclipse. Dodge and mitsu have been in bed together for a long time.

The question is which one is on top and which one is face down on the bottom.
Hint: Can you see a three pointed star that is engineered like no other car in the world on top?

one car mag reported the SRT-4 averaged 14 mpg during their road tests. with a 12.5 gallon tank, that means you're stopping for gas every 175 miles (less if you don't run it bone dry.)

nice car.

nice car.
And how did they drive it? I get 24mpg with my SVX, or 17 if its winter and I floor it a lot.

Magazine drivers are notorious for abusing the go-pedal.

yeah, but how do you think people are going to drive the SRT-4?
the librarian and Grandma are going to buy the base Neon, while young "Raw Furry Dog"-types are going to buy the SRT-4 because its cheaper than a WRX or EVO.

yeah, but the SVX has a bigger gas tank. at 20mpg (averaging on the low side), 20x18.5 gal. tank = 370 miles (a little better than 175 miles. )
