Looks great. The Mothers 3-step is a great process for beginner/non-serious detailers.
If you really wanna get serious with detailing, check out www.autopia.org, i spent a good 2 weeks just reading before i even made my first post, and now i have people wanting me to do their cars...FOR MONEY! Here's what i did with my dads car: http://www.autopia.org/gallery/data/...97rearside.jpg And here's mine (it's white, so it doesnt reflect as much...and i just got some new stuff that's a lot better for light colors) p.s. yes, i know there's condesation in the tail lights http://www.autopia.org/gallery/data/...reflection.jpg

Have you ever tried Zaino Brothers for wash/polish, etc.? They have a whole bunch of stuff. I swear by that stuff, now. It contains no wax either... and when you wash it with their "soap," it looks almost like you polished it... great stuff.

Before you guys blow a ton of money, seriously try out the Zymol they sell at any auto parts store. It's incredible. I turned a pink car into a red one with the stuff once, and it's SO NICE TO APPLY! The shine is simply amazing. Hell, if you guys lived near me I'd let you have some of mine just so you can see how great it is.

Actually, the NSX forum that did the "big" test with wax and polish variations found the "cheap" Zymol to come out on top of many other sworn by expensive products. It came out just under the Zaino Brothers stuff.

Yeah, from everything I've read, the Zymol is the BEST wax to put on. Zaino is 2nd place in terms of finish, but it LASTS a lot longer than the Zymol. I don't mind waxing though.

Zaino contains NO wax. It is a synthetic based protectant. Synthetics offer a lot longer protection then carnuaba waxes.
Synthetics generally add "pop" to the paint, where carnauba adds "depth". Zaino is highly recommended for a synthetic. The best carnauba wax supported by autopia is hands-down S100 (P21S). You can get S100 at your local Harley dealer, they make a whole range of products. They are the easiest products to use that you will ever try. Some of the combo's that are most popular are: Zaino Line S100 Shine Enhancing Paint Cleanser -> S100 Paste Wax Klasse All-in-one -> Klasse Sealer Glaze (up to a dozen layers!) -> S100 Paste Wax There's so many combos of products to try out, a different combo works for different people. Go out and experiment!

Any advice for shining up a black one? I seem to recall someone saying that they wouldn't recommend certain types of wax...

Basically, anything but turtle wax, and the "miracle" stuff you get at car shows. If you really want it to shine, go pick up some S100 SEC, and S100 paste wax at a Harley dealer, and make sure you use bathroom quality 100% cotten towels (if you dont have microfiber). Also, might want to pick up some clay from Mothers or Clay Magic (i prefer mothers). This stuff is amazing, and will get your paint smooth as glass. Check out autopia for way more info/tips/tricks.

No, im not being paid by Autopia... but it's impossible to give all the info in one, or even 10 posts. So just stop by and check it out, you can do a search for any product you find, and there will be 10's or 100's of threads on it, so you can find out if it's good or not.
