Rotors[disks] shaved
Just had my two front rotors shaved on the car last night. Excellent job, took over an hour, they were very warped, and cost $70. Money well spent, I am now ready for the government test.
The cutting edge was showering sparks from the disk. The garage man says he has seen no modern cars doing that, there must be a higher proportion of steel in the Subaru disks. He was charmed by the SVX, drives a Legacy AWD estate himself. Shudder and shimmy all gone, although I have not given the car a hard workout in the hills to make them heat up. Want to pass the test first, will try that later. Joe

I do that too...
I've had my rotors Machined (shaved) twice in the past year... and I hate the frquency of my trips to get rid of the shudderring.
But I Love having a smooth braking car...it makes it feels nice and expensive. Please... check out my thread under this Forum titled "Rotors Warp too Often." -SVXJoe |
