6 speed 4ws
Does anyone know if this conversion will affect the 4ws?

Re: 6 speed 4ws
I see no reason that it would affect it...

Re: 6 speed 4ws
Not sure if there are any major differences to the rear sub frame that would affect putting an R180 in place of the stock R160?

Re: 6 speed 4ws
Subframe is similar but that isn't an issue I was thinking from an electrical/sensor input point of view

Re: 6 speed 4ws
Are there any sensors on your r160? If not then don't worry about it. Swapping to an r180 you just use the rear STi 5x114 axle shafts and they bolt right in. The only sensor on the r180 is normally the temp sensor which won't do anything for you anyway. I have personally never seen sensors on an r160, but then again I have never seen a 4ws car.
The only issue may be with an odd input or output from the auto and TCU to the 4ws control unit. The 6mt puts out the correct speed signal already, so unless there is a different input that the 4ws uses, I don't see there being an issue. It gets steering input from the steering system, speed from the VSS (which hopefully runs through the ecu for that and not the TCU) and throttle engine load from the ecu. I can't imagine that it uses any other inputs. Jason |

Re: 6 speed 4ws
Maybe send Shane Hobson here in NZ a question, I know he has a few SVXs including a 4WS model.

Re: 6 speed 4ws
Can you find a wiring diagram for the 4ws control unit? Is it a seperate unit or does it run off the ecu?

Re: 6 speed 4ws
I've got a couple of auto 4WS cars here.
I'm happy to have a poke around, take photos etc if that helps anyone. If I don't see your reply here then please pm me |
