lookin4svx, i did not even know that amp existed. that one is so much smaller too. i bought mine on amazon, so taking it back would be a piece of cake. they have that one for sale too. and it's an 80Amp amp, not 120Amps. that's less to worry about.

+1, I was thinking the same thing but I wasn't 100% sure. Computer power supplies are the same way.

well. anyways, i hope to have this entire setup finished soon. the amp says i need to run wire from it, to a fuse, to the positive of the battery. then from the amp to ground. it also says to run wire from the negative terminal of the battery to ground. isn't that already accomplished by the way the car was made? or do i have to ground it again?

Yes, your stock battery is already grounded.
No you do not need to run a secondary ground off the battery to run that amplifier.

They only mean that if you have a secondary battery, like a gel cell in the trunk.

All you need to do is run a wire from the positive terminal of the battery, back to the amp.
You will want to place a fuse on this line. Preferably under the hood, and within 18" of the connection to the battery.

Most people do this right at the battery. Just cut a 1ft piece of power wire, attach it to one side of the fuse, then attach the rest of the wire to the other side. The short side goes to the battery, the long side run to the trunk.

Make sure hooking up the wire to the battery is the last thing you do, not the first, or else, spark, pop, blown fuse, when you touch something with the wire.

i was gonna put the fuse either on the battery or right by it. at most 12 inches away. i also need to ground the amp to the trunk as well, but that shouldn't be too hard. and thanks for the tip i will connect the battery end last!
