Re: trannsy swap help....

look here on the board there are a few for sale. If you don't like them then go local but a WRX or STi is fine. Although STi is 6spd I believe. Also Legacy and other ones will be fine from what I understand. I'd attempt to find with gearing that will be subtiable to your driving. Dont get a 4.44 if you don't want high RPMs on the highway etc. etc. My 3.90 5spd sits about 3200 or so at 80.

Re: trannsy swap help....

I have driven a bunch of 5 and 6 speed SVXi, and evan though I love the
4.44s in the SVX, the 3.9 ratio feels best to me in a MT SVX!

SVXBart has had two 4.11 MT 5 SVX and now has a 3.90.
Why don't you PM him and ask his opinion.

Re: trannsy swap help....

BTW, I think YT has one trans crossmember left, and maybe a pedal assembly.

First your SVX will weigh about 100# less with the MT5.
So 3580# goes down to 3480#.
An 2006 WRX is going to be 3192#, according to NADA.
How long it lasts is up to you, and how you treat it!

Re: trannsy swap help....

i ended up buyin a 92 with a 93 legacy swap but the shifter has a lot of play in every gear (like its in neutral) and the car doesnt move. you can hear things moving in the tranny itself with the car off and shifting but the car does not move. so ive been looking and cant find a rebuild or gear sets for the tranny aftermarket....are there interchangeable parts from a wrx maybe?
