Re: Need A Alternator

Or you could get it rebuilt locally and save shipping. Most local shops offer as good if not better of a warranty. Expect to pay around $125 locally in a pricey area like your in. It is just a standard Mitsu alt. which most of the bigger shops will already have on their shelves. They'll just need to swap pulleys and your golden.

Every local rebuilder or auto chain store I checked with was offering only a 1 year warranty. Even the remanufactured ones from Subaru carry the same 1 year warranty.

Even at $78.00, no tax, plus shipping, you are getting a much better alternator for a little over $100.00.

How do you figure? I work for a rebuilder, and we ALL get our parts from the same suppliers.

The only thing that changes is what parts are reclaimed, and for $78 I promise you, most of it will be reclaimed.

Argue this point to Christian Caudle at Maniac Electric Motors in Dallas. I guarantee you will lose. Her number is 972-557-5768.

She is very knowledgeable and knows more area than anyone I have come across. She has never been at a loss for exact and complete answers to any questions I have asked.

For the 160A High-Output alternators she uses internal voltage regulators from Germany that she had made for our applications. They are much more reliable and stable than those made here. She does not use kits to rebuild them.

I, and the SVX community have a special relationship with the company and she goes out of here way to make sure everthing is perfect and does not come back. She even put my SVX Alternator Wiring Modification on her websire as an example of how do do things right.

What other company would buy your old cores and pay to have them shipped, without having to buy a nother alternator. See HERE

I had an electrical issue after I had a 160A high-output alternator built by them. Not knowing if it was alternator-related, she immediately sent me another high-output unit by Fedex overnight to install, along with a return tag to send back the other alternator.

She disassembled the alternator, inspected and double-checked every bit of the alternator by hand, various load tests and even installed another NEW rectifier from Germany and sent it back to me.

She also told me to keep the other High-output alternator in case I ever needed it, so that if I EVER had an issue, I wou not have any "down time".

You will not find any better customer service anywhere!
In the past, I have had alternators built at specialty shops which were adequate. But if they ever needed repair under warranty, it was not a no-hassle scenario.

Don't worry Splinter. John is WAY smarter then you when it comes to automotive things that don't involve polish. He sells freezers to in the Artic circle you know.

Good luck with your used alt. The1andonly. If you do get that xmas tree of all your lights pull over quick or you might do some serious damage. I know mine made it all of 5 miles when my alt. went before killing the battery completely.

Re: Need A Alternator

I'm Good, I got the alternator and radiator fan done. Car is flawless now, I still need to switch the bumper. Its slightly damaged, and the hood and fender i had to replace are silver. I am getting a good deal on front paintwork so i might just get it straightened out and repainted instead of picking up another bumper or hood, pending on how much i can get it here. And i just bought another SVX and im gonna make a project with either one of them, not sure yet and sell the other. I will post the pics like i said and probably register it, I just wanna finish it completely first.

Thanks to
2.5rallyrs And
httrdd For the radiator fan, and alternator and some accessories, everything was good.
