speed sensor swap

My mechanic is swaping out my trans to the 4.44. His question is about the speed sensor. Something about three wires on one and two wires on the other. Can someone explain what needs to be done to make it work? Thanks!

Re: speed sensor swap

take the speed sensor off of your sxv trans and put it onto the new trans.

Re: speed sensor swap

My mechanic called me and said he can't understand how it comes out of the trans. Can anyone can shine some light on this? Are there screws, brackets, twist and turn, pull, release button, etc.? Any 'how to' or photos?

Use an open ended wrench. Either 12 or 14 mm. Can't remember. It just twists out...

Re: speed sensor swap

I had to go see for myself. When he unscrewed it, the inside stem did not come out with the sensor. He didn't want to just pull it out without knowing it's shape. He was being careful not to break it. He did finally get it all out. Thanks for the responses.

Re: speed sensor swap

ha I had the same issue when I removed mine the stem and seal didn't come with the sensor and I was thinking damn another part i gotta order even began looking for parts but in the end I got it all figured out. I just didn't expect it to come out in seperate pieces either. Anyway good luck with your 4.44 swap.
