Re: Worth $1300?

I looked at the car again today- the tires are 225/60R16. The windshield's cracked beyond repair, which really disappointed me-- I told the seller a new windshield is a $1200 dealer-only part which he didn't know. He said he'd try to find me one-- not gonna happen because I know pretty much all the local sources and there's not one to be had in Salt Lake. Some rust in the LR wheelwell, and the leather on both front seats is on the way out. D/S visor is floppy. Car's been off the road since at least May of '08. This is looking more like a $500- $700 car to me.

I say he will eventually sell you the car for that much.

Re: Worth $1300?

It sounds to me like the seller is thinking about all the money he spent on the stated repairs, and not how much actually needs to still be put into it (tranny, rust, windshield). The tires are stock size though, and are new right?) It is an AE, id maybe offer him $1,100 per Danny and see if he bites, letting him know only an enthusiast would even consider buying a broken down SVX that could need $4000 worth of work to be registerable and driveable . Or you could just say that "a guy on your forum got his '92 LS-L with 136K in great condition for $1126, so stop being such a haggler and give it up!"

225/50/16
225/60/16 is about 7.1% taller.

Re: Worth $1300?

Yeah, I thought the tires were supposed to be '50s. The ones on there just look too big! I bought 2 other '92 LS-L's with lower miles in better condition (though they both had bad trannys) for about $800 each a couple of years ago. Maybe I'm just feeling spoiled... Why don't I have them now? Good question! My head got turned by other interests and I decided to sell my SVXi to finance them. Hindsight is a wonderful\awful thing.

How much did you sell your SVXi for?

Re: Worth $1300?

I think I sold one of them for $1700 after I replaced the front diff (Thanks SVXfiles!) It had a horrible paint job and apparently the AWD wasn't working, even after the diff replacement. The other one sold for about $1400, with the trans. unrepaired but driveable. They were both '92 LS-L's, one claret (before the bad paint job) and the other silver.

I really wish I'd kept the silver one. I sold it to a kid who joined the board here for a while. He put a 4.44 tranny from a '98 Forester in it but it had a solenoid "C" problem and I think he sold it to someone else after that and I lost track of it. Apparently it wasn't the chick-magnet-car he thought it would be!
