360

The 360 was never officially imported by Subaru to the U.S. Instead, the guy who brought us the Brickin I think imported them as a side venture. The dealers who signed up lost big time. I've heard stories of them being offered in sets of 5 for about $2000. They made a van, sedan and truck which came to the U.S. JDM which always has the coolest things got a open top and one with a nice big fabric sunroof. Value now for a good one is in the $3000 range. They came with a 360cc two stroke engine with around 25hp however, some in Japan had up to around 36hp.

I saw my first 360 (a '69) . . .

. . . the very day that I picked up my first Subaru (an '80). I was back in the shop to check out the (dealer-installed) A/C, and there was a 360 in the paint booth. From that day on I've lusted for one.

Hey Victor! Hey Earl! What's the 10th Commandment? (Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors 360.)

Did you see the 360 Van that was on the small car lot, on the way to dinner at the 10th meet?

Saw one of those at the dealership in Denver CO. I sat inside it. I couldn't imagine driving it. What a dinky little thing.

I was living in Columbus, Ohio when a local dealer imported 8 or 10 of those. I think he sold two in their original state. After the rest spent a year on the showroom floor he took the remaining ones, torched the tops off of them, added wide tires and sold them as golf carts for $1,000 apiece

Yeah, and I stopped to take pictures of it after dinner. Now if I could only find the roll of film.

I dodn't know that anybody else saw it.

Amber tried the doors and found them unlocked. I'd never seen a 360 in person, and to see a Van was really cool.

The 360 convertible was called the 'Maia' in Australia and, I think, New Zealand. I had no idea Subaru ever called a car model 'Maia.' We just named our cat Maia because it's the name of a star in the Pleiades constellation.
