tranny filter
ok, so i recently put on a tranny cooler and i never even realized that i have an external tranny filter. i replaced the internal one shortly after i got the car, but i didnt know i had an external one also. i asked my local parts store if they carry external filters, they said no. so my question is:
are all svx external tranny filters the same? and where can i get one? i think its about time i replace mine since everything else with the tranny is done (besides fixing my diff). it feels good to get things done on my car. after the tranny is all done itll be time for the engine "stuff". replace my valve cover gaskets and put in some new spark plugs (again). i just put some in, but now after reading some posts im gonna use the iridium ones. my car idled really funny after i put in some crappy bosch ones and i think it was all because of the plugs. anyway, thanks for any help anyone can give me on the filter ahead of time!

All of the external filters are the same.
You can still get the replacement filter from your Subaru dealer. The P/N is 31099AA370 and is about $12.00. The factory Technical Service Bulletin covering the external filter can be found by clicking HERE The TSB states: "The filter is designed to be maintenance free under normal driving conditions. It will not require periodic replacement. The only time replacement is necessary is in case of a transmission failure which leads to excessive metal contamination of the fluid." .
