Another transmission question

If I get a transmission out of a Legacy or Impreza, will I have to use a speed sensor and torque converter out of an SVX? A member on here told me that, but I haven't heard it from anyone else. Also, I'm trying to decide whether to sell the SVX to pay for repairs on my Eclipse (needs new cam bearings and head gasket) or to put a (used) tranny on the SVX. Which one would be cheaper to do?
