Band Adjustment
Hi guys i'm still looking at trying to keep this SVX. when i had the auto shop look at the tranny they said there was no adjustment on the box to cure the slipping but since reading the manual have found there is a band adjustment screw. now my question is does this have any affect on the 3rd and 4th gear slipping or not ?

No, unfortunately, the band controls the 2-3 shift, IIRC
If the trans is slipping in 3-4 it's most likely the high gear clutches. I just replaced the trans in mine for the same failure. Donor trans are fairly inexpensive, if you look around. IIRC any 4spd auto from any EJ series car, up to 1998 will be a drop in swap. The down side is, you need the gears from the rear differential as well. This drives up labor costs. You can get away with not doing the rear diff, like I did, by leaving the back half of the driveshaft out. Call your local junkyards, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised at the costs of a decent used trans.
