I guess I missed the Vulture meaning. To that I must agree.

Too bad so many people are willing to just carve them up for parts.
I don't mind knowing of only a few in my area, but I would kinda like to at least hear about more on the road than off.

Wow. Not only is the creep parting out a perfectly good SVX, but he makes it impossible for anyone to buy the car. Ensteele, the car isn't $3000; he is charging anyone who wants to buy the whole car $3000 to have it shipped to their location and prohibits local pickup. So that's just shipping it. Which is total BS.

Why must these people exist who take perfectly good cars and tear them apart to make a buck? Absolutely disgusting.

I remember seeing this listed about a year ago with that same car in the tall grass and that annoying wizard.

I concur with the sentiment expressed in this thread but can't understand why everyone seems so perplexed that anyone out to turn a buck (or cut their losses) would part-out an SVX. It's simple economics: If you've got a car needing more of a financial expenditure than the prevailing resale value, absent some emotional attachment to the car, repair makes little sense.

Surely I've spent more on the SVX I bought last August than I paid for the car (front wheel bearings and tone wheels, ABS sensor, antenna, rear wiper, 4-wheel alignment, hoses, fluids and filters and so-on), and you know what it would be worth if I tried tried to sell it here on the Network? About half what I have in it. Maybe. If I were really, really lucky.

Unless and until the value appreciates, people will break 'em in increasing numbers. Sad fact.

While this is true, it is only when there is a market for parts dismantlers to do so that they spend their time ripping fixable cars up. Easiest solution is DON'T BUY FROM non-licensed junkyards and they won't carve cars up. Besides, most any part you can get cheaper from www.car-part.com with a warranty from the yard most times then you can on ebay. There's a reason why there are still british cars around. Most owners won't buy parts from dismantlers.

Well said.
If we don't create the market, then they have no reason to rape those cars.

I would venture to say that there is pobably not a thing wrong with it, and he is just parting it out.

the guy has been on ebay for a while, the car was orginally listed whole back in mid last year 06 if i remember correctly BIN was $4500 or somewhere around there it didnt sell due to, as was discussed , the transmission ,blew up while the owner was driving it. the owner listed it only once so there was not a chance for a person with an ebay acct to buy it. the guy then seemed a little off when i contacted him to ask for different parts to fix my beast
