Yep, thts correct. Since FIAT is no longer have connections with GM, I has to stop using holden units and they have used those completely modified holden units for a while now, but not any more.

The V8 from ferrrari that they are talkin about is the same one that you get in Maseratis and Alfa's 8C. Untill last year FIAT grouped Maserati with Ferrari to redevelop its marque and Ferrari did a very good job by scaling it up such that now it resides in the upscale competition segment of the market. But FIAT is more bothered about the increasing running costs of the materials and maintenance of Maseratis becos of using Ferrari's technology(or to say their raw materials), they took it back from Ferrari and grouped it with Maserati in hope of decreasing the building & running costs, but the technology stays the same except the raw materials will be different.

So there is no need to be surprised if we see any crossed paltformed engine/technology among these 3 brands in future. I can't think they will make use Ferraris technology in FIAT and Lancia though.
