New Silla radiator

We'll I just got done with the Silla radiator installation. I'm pretty sure there's other threads like mine, but I figure a good word would go unnoticed if I added to one of them.

Anyway, it fit perfectly. It's a little more "generic" then the original of course.
One thing, the dense foam insulation surrounding the original radiator was soaked, gross and crumbling away, so I removed all of it. The Silla does not have any of this foam. I might try replacing it carefully with something from home depot. I was stunned at the amount of caked grime that had accumulated on the bottom of my old radiator from about 3 months of slow leaking.

I ordered it from http://www.carpartswholesale.com/ not EBAY.
It was $179.67 plus $18.90 shipping to PA. They shipped it the next day and it came quick in a sturdy box.

If you can, please post a picture of it in the SVX. If you have any pictures of it before you installed it, those would be good too. Thanks in advance.

I'll get you some good pictures post installation, and a picture of the old radiator.

It has an interesting smell, I just took a 20 mile or so drive, like road construction. I think the whole thing was painted with that asphalt paint. The old radiator was not, the aluminum fins were unpainted.

If the fins of the radiator were painted, wouldn't that significantly reduce the effect of it? I would think it less likely to cool as well as the paint would act as insulation, not what you want in a radiator.

Pics

These are largish. I peeled off the "Made In China" sticker, I can see the residue with super hi-res camera, but I not notice with my poor eyesight. Sorry, I tried under the car but the lighting was not good and it's bloody COLD in my garage!
