So... I was working on my 86 Brat. I had to change the gaskets between the carb and intake. When I got it back together I started it up and it ran like crap, I then realized that I left the paper towel in the intake that I shoved in there to catch the gasket scrapings. When I took the carb back off, the towel was too far down one side of the manifold to be seen...

So I then had enough smarts to know to pack up the tools and call it a night before I did any more damage... I had some thoughts on how to handle it;
- Use one of those spring grabby things to try and snake the towel out of the intake.
- Rev the hell out it and "burn" up the towel
- Pull the manifold and fish it out.
- Use a torch down the manifold to burn it up before it goes through the valve, figuring that it will be easier to intake ash than a bounty??

So the next day comes and I tried to snake it... nothing...
Pulled the Intake manifold up enough to reach a finger into the head... nothing...
So I figured I had nothing to lose... put the intake and carb back on and started her up....

She ran crappy for a while, wouldn't even let me rev, finally it seemed like it opened up and I could rev the engine but it still wasn't ideling right...

The battery was getting low from cranking, so I hooked up the charger and ran to Advance for some more carb cleaner. Came back and at first it didn't want to start, but after enough cranking she turned over again and ran nice up above 2k, but below that she still idled funny, after a few more minutes at 3k, she was able to settle down.

She still had some funk to her idle, a little more revving and running her around and she was good as new

I had just finished the body work on an 86' Prelude. (Rust Bucket)
I was 18 at the time, still living at home. So I got the tapeing done, all the windows, we sanded, pretty much set to spray.

Then, in a fit of genius, I thought, I'd better sweep the mountains of pink dust out of dad's garage. Had to back the car out to do that. It was 2 am so I thought I'll just let it roll in neutral out the back rather then start the engine and wake everyone up. Well, no engine, no power breaks and the steering wheel locked up, and I could not see well with the newspaper covering the back window. So I'm rolling towards our mail box at an alarming rate, and I cant stop. Needless to say, I ended up waking everyone up anyway, with a surprisingly loud bounce over a wooden railing and a crashing mailbox. Plus, I had a few fresh dents to bondo. Dad just laughed at me and told me to put the mailbox back before I went to bed.

Also, that car had no clutch safety switch. I grounded it on a curb at the turkey hill once cause I tried to start it in first without the clutch in. Sucker leaped right onto the curb and got stuck on the tow hook, front wheels just brushing.
Had to call my strong friend and we both lifted the front end enough to get it off. Good times.

Did the same thing to my porsche Dave only when I started it, it reved to redline and wouldn't shut off. I took the key out in the middle of an intersection and popped the hood. Pulled the battery terminals and it still screamed, so I grab the main coil wire. Man did I get juiced and it never ran the same after that

If you had thought of it, the emergency brake would have stopped you.
