Talking 4.44 swap

Hello all, I'm usually lurking around.. Doing searches and reasearching.. However, I finally purchased a 4.44 trans and diff out of a 97 Outback for $550 bucks with 64k miles.. I'm picking them up on Saturday if all goes as planned.. I will be updating this thread as I get things going.. I will be doing the work myself.. Should be fun.. lol.. Soon there will be another 4.44 swapped SVX on the road.. This one in Northern Virginia.. I will post pics of the beauty soon.. Will update soon.. Later.

excellent. you will love the acceleration you will get from the 4.44's and the crisp shifts are great as well. A low mileage auto is your best bet and sounds like you got a pretty solid deal on it if all goes well. I suggest you replace the internal filter and pan gasket as well as add an external trans cooler. If you hit a couple bumps along the way. SVXfiles has a great shop and he is more than capable of helping you out... After all, I think he is getting close to having 20 4.44 swaps under his belt and I wouldn't trust anyone else to meet his quality work.

Thanks Tom.. I can't wait to get the project going.. I really enjoy working on the car.. I actually was thinking about swapping out the trans filter.. Per svxfiles to do list.. Thanks to the other Tom..lol..Question.. What kind of external cooler should I get.. IE.. brand/size of cooler.. Also.. Was thinking of putting an external trans filter. One with a temp. gauge.. Do you think it would be necessary.. I just want it as a preventive maintenance thing...
If all goes as planned.. I'll see you @ Reading meet.. later..
