How much is an SVX worth with X miles?

When it comes to mileage affecting value. For a 1994-1995 SVX LSi. In good condition, everything works, no issues, minor scrape or two in paint, decent tires, okay rims.

How much is the following worth?

A) 25,000 miles

B) 35,000 miles

C) 45,000 miles

D) 55,000 miles

E) 65,000 miles

F) 75,000 miles

G) 85,000 miles

H) 100,000 miles

I) 125,000 miles

Checking Edmunds.com for True Market Value, I entered the values for a clean 1995 LSi in the Baltimore area. These prices are what you would expect to pay from a private seller.

A) 25,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

B) 35,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

C) 45,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

D) 55,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

E) 65,000 miles....3686.00... Mileage adjustment (+820.00)

F) 75,000 miles....3642.00... Mileage adjustment (+780.00)

G) 85,000 miles....3564.00... Mileage adjustment (+702.00)

H) 100,000 miles...3396.00... Mileage adjustment (+534.00)

I) 125,000 miles....2826.00... Mileage adjustment (0)
.

It's amazing that, everything else being equal, the difference between 25,000 and 100,000 miles is less than $1000.00

You are definitely low on price on the cars with 50K miles and less. They bring significantly more than you are showing. Consequently, there is a much bigger difference in the prices of a high mileage car versus an extremely low mileage car. Just my opinion.

Maybe its a misprint but I'm a bit confused. Given the static parameters of the car described and the only variable being mileage, wouldn't the mileage adjustment be linear throughout the scale (options)? I notice a "skip" in the adjustment shown for mileage and this shouldn't happen. I also notice that an ULTRA low mileage offers no premium over a simply low mileage car, that there is no mileage premium difference until you arrive at 65K miles. Maybe this scale applies to general resale/used cars, but certain cars, such as the SVX, seem to defy being categorized. I would bet that Nissan 300ZX and Toyota Supra are two others that don't fit neatly into pricing categories. As the supply of truly pristine SVXs diminish these examples will bring a higher and higher premium. Over time we will see pricing for these cars take on a two-tiered level, high priced cars and low priced cars with few between (average). We may be seeing that now and it will be more pronounced as time goes on. One more thing, there will be an added segment - modified street racer types that bring prices in keeping with their performance, a sort of cult following. My opinion.

Obviously Edmunds site is way off. Look at the difference in value from Kelly Blue Book.

I made a typo in the Edmunds figures for the 100,000 mile car, corrected below. Edmunds quotes are in Red, Kelly Blue Book quotes are in Blue

A) 25,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)
A) 25,000 miles....6535.00

B) 35,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

C) 45,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

D) 55,000 miles....3700.00... Mileage adjustment (+834.00)

E) 65,000 miles....3686.00... Mileage adjustment (+820.00)

F) 75,000 miles....3642.00... Mileage adjustment (+780.00)
F) 75,000 miles....6235.00

G) 85,000 miles....3564.00... Mileage adjustment (+702.00)

H) 100,000 miles...3396.00... Mileage adjustment (+534.00)

I) 125,000 miles....2826.00... Mileage adjustment (0)
I) 125,000 miles....5010.00

I just plugged in the values that were set in the first post. He said the SVX was in "good" condition, which closely resembles the "clean" condition by Edmunds. If the car is considered in "outstanding" condition, the value of the car goes up only $523.00, no matter what the mileage.

Obviously, an 11 year old car with only 25,000 miles, kept in outstanding condition should be worth a lot more than listed.

I plugged in the same 1995 SVX in clean condition with only 5000 miles and it came up the same as the 25,000 mile car.

The zero mileage adjustment on the 125,000 mile car dropped to -$649.00 for a 150,000 mile car. From 200,000 miles and over, it dropped -$1010.00. (The price of a 1995 SVX, with 400,000 miles was $1,852.00)

The Kelly prices were for private party as well. NADA lists only low, average and high retail.

These figures are only a guide. The real value is how much a buyer is willing to pay for a car they really want.

Dan,
You might also want to check out the following thread that I posted: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ght=SVX+Prices

This thread addressed the "Old Car Pricing Guide" magazine. It was very iinteresting to me that a 1992 in #1 condition (showroom) is worth more than a 1997 #1 condition car.

But overall, the thing to keep in mind is what someone is willing to pay for a car (regardless of condition) and what someone is willing to let it go for. Buying a used car, classic or not, remains very subjective and in consideration of supply and demand.

Check out "Price Guide's" way of determining condition of a car (#1, 2, 3, 4, etc).

You also need to consider if the car has all original parts or new installed parts.

The going price up here in British Columbia seems to be around $6000 CDN
($5200US) This is what people ask. I am not sure what they actually get. This seems to be regardless of the Km's.
