Question 92 with an odor problem

Hello Everyone,
I Have just joined and I have a question. When I turn my heat or AC on it has a discusting moldy smell that makes me sick. It usually will go away after a few minutes but those first few minutes are torture . How do I get rid of it?

Significant Technical Input
Generally what happens to most cars is the drain for the a/c gets plugged with leaves and/or other debris. The drain needs to be cleared (usually easiest while on a hoist) and sometimes a special solution can be used to rinse the remaining odor away. I'd give it a few dry days after clearing the drain to see if that would need to be done. Usually the solution is available at new car dealers, but I'm not sure about Subaru. If they don't have it a GM or Chrysler dealer will - they have a few problem cars that have drain problems engineered into them.

BTW, Welcome to the network, the more the merrier!
