Exclamation Instruments and climate control not responding...

Hi. I have a green, 1997 SVX which I really like, so maybe you can help me.
I just got those reverse gauge lights and installed them this weekend. After a little work, I was able to put them in and wanted to test them. But when I turn the car on none of the instruments worked (the rpm gauge, tempter, speedometer, etc.). They'll light up when I turn the lights on, but the needles aren't reacting.
After this happened, I checked everything else on the car and noticed that the windows did not work. Just like the instrument panel, my climate control lights up, but none of the buttons work (and no air flows).
Did this happen to anyone else? I would really appreciate any help.
THANKS

the "meter & SRS light" fuses was out.
So I replaced it, but it keep blowing out.
I was able to trace the problem to the instrument panal. If I leave the panal out and start the car with a good fuses, the windows and climate control works. So some thing on the panal has to be causing it to short out.
I don't have any power going to the gauges jet. I wanted to fix the instrument panal first.

Just a thought but try unplugging your sunvisors to see if the short goes away.

Welcome to the site and enjoy your stay!

try this out... that same thing happened to my car, it may be a fuse or a relay... or it might be the transmission senser as well, thats what was going on w/ my car. Other than that *shrugs* I don't know anything but it may be that... but don't go on my word... I don't know lol, but its worth looking into

Thanks for your help. I found the problem. When I over looked the circuits on the back of the instrument panel, I noticed that there were two wires causing the short.
Now that that's working, I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions for me where to tap the power from.
And is there also a way of using the regular on/off switch by the steering wheel. The gauges I got have an extra button. (which I don't really care for
)

Hi. I finally got the gauge problem working.
I was looking at other posts and saw that some got their power off of the red w/ white strip wire going to the parking light button. I tried this too, but found out you have to have the parking lights on when ever you light up the gauges. After checking other wires, I found that the blue w/ brown wire had power going to it constantly.
Well I spliced the power for the gauges to that wire and grounded it to one of the screws by the steering column.
So after I buttoned everything up, I took it for a test drive (why not!? ).
BUT while driving I notice that the speedometer was totally off (about 7-10mph) and usually it's right on the money. As for my fuel, and temp. gauges they were also off. The only thing that seems to be working right is my rpm gauge (because the idle hasn't changed).
I'm just wondering if any of you had the same thing happen and/or if you know the best way to recalibrate them.
