Can someone recommned a good mechanic?

To all,

I live in Portland, OR and have been using the Subaru dealer for my SVX repairs. I need to wean myself from this habit. Can anyone recommend a good SVX mechanic in my area? Thanks, in advance.

Maybe some of the Oregon members can help out here. There are several in your area and may be able to reccomend one.

Out of curiosity, any reason you're trying to wean yourself from the dealership?

When I was still in Portland I found the Beaverton dealership mechanics to be an incredibly knowledgeable and professional group and felt very comfortable leaving them with my baby. They were really helpful to me even back when I was bringing a few SVX's in for pre-purchase inspections and were more than willing to speak about all things SVX (and I thought *I* had done my research) and gave me no-nonsense appraisals of the cars beyond just the general information in the paper report.

The other subie dealership in town didn't impress me quite so much, but the Beaverton one gets a thumbs up from me. Which one have you been going to? Any bad experiences?

I like the guys in ******ton, too, but was spoiled by a top-notch, private ex-Subaru mechanic in Tacoma when I lived in that area. He would typically charge 35% less for the same work. Less overhead, you know. I've had nothing but good service from the dealership, but just thought there might be a Subaru knight in shining armor in Portland who had his own shop.
