Under front end shield question

I have a 95 svx L model and got I think a 94 plastic shield to replace the damaged original. It apparently does not fit. I tried to find a way. Has anyone had to replace theirs and do different years vary. I think it was a LSI(with leather) if that matters. Any ideas. Thanks.

92, 93, 94, and 95 so far seem to be interchangable. They all look the same and seem to be the same size.

Talking Maybe bad info

It just came to me this may be from a 97. The engine and transmission sold on e-bay a few months back. A 94 is coming in this week and I'll exchange it for that one if possible. I'll bring my ramps so I can check it on the premises. Thanks.

Puzzled

Yes every year has the same part#. I checked myself. I assume that means they're identical parts or does it. I need a lift to see everything better. Maybe a tricky install. I'll keep you guys informed. Thanks.

Only two things I can imagine that could cause a hassle with attaching the undertray:

1) the tie-down hooks are bent so the slots in the tray don't align, or

2) the car's taken such a wallop to the front end, nothing aligns.

The engine under guards are identical for all years....well...almost

Subaru SLIGHTLY changed the design in 92 / 93. The original part number was 56410PA000. When the change occured, the part number went to 56410PA001, and the cover used different bolts to attach it. You need the newer style bolt # 047406167.

I kept my original bolts when I took off the damaged one. Some may still be on car that I need to remove. I'm going to ask my friendly dealer for a few minutes lift time maybe on Sat. to see things better. I couldn't figure it out laying on my back a foot away. Thanks for the input.

that may be your problem. you really shouldn't need a lift. try laying it under the car approximate to where it should go, and look up to verify the bolt holes are where they should be. the bolt threads are probably rusty, so try soaking them in some penetrating fluid for a little while before installing it.

Under Shield

The front end slips under a thin lip and the front holes lined up perfect. It would not press up into place. The towing hooks go into the slots but something is stopping it from seating a few inches up. The back hangs down. I'll take another look tommorrow. Thanks.

CONCLUSION

I got the car up on a lift at the dealer and the service guy removed the tow hooks and it fit perfectly. Need to get hooks straightened or get other ones and bigger washers to seat properly. Thanks for the info on this issue.

Thanks for coming back with the results Mike. The feed back is the only way of telling what the trouble was. It is a vital part of troubleshooting.

Harvey.
