Yeah, that guy is a flake - he only has about $5600, I've seen him bidding on a few cars.

If you're next lower bid isn't too far away I'd contact them vs. running another bid.

Should read: If your next lower bid isn't too far away, dollar-wise, I'd contact them vs. running another auction.

i didnt think they could legally back out.

i thought once you bid and won you were bound legally to make the purchase.

can someone give me some e-bay 101 here?

keep the faith

e-bay can be frustrating. apparently alot of people bid on cars and then don't even show their faces afterwards. this frustrates sellers. then there are svx sellers like the one in brooklyn that i was high bidder on. the ad said something like "except for this broken windshield the car has normal wear for a car this age". i drive up. the car is a piece of crap, wires dangling from under the dash, big dent along the side, broken lenses and bumpers, etc. the "seller" (it was not his, for a friend as a favor SURE) says well, for what you paid it's a good deal. i turn around and drive home. the only good thing about the experieance was that it was near coney island. we got "nathans" hot dogs AND frog legs and i road the cyclone.
