Pearlie Painting... Tough to match?

My Pearlie needs to have the bumpers repainted. I know that it's a tri-coat unlike the other svx's, so i was wondering if any-a-yinz have had paint work done on your pearlie, and if it matched well.

Thanks

Mike

My old pearlie had both bumpers repainted and both matched perfectly. Just make sure that the paint shop matches the paint to YOUR car, and not use the generic color code for the pearl micaright out of the can. Some shops have a type of paint spectrum analyzer to determine your present car color

I've seen pearlies at Reading which did not match each other when parked side-by-side. Some were very white, like Randy's; some have a very pale golden cast (like mine was)

Olu (svxit) had lower cladding and bumpers painted which didn't quite match on his 92. On the pearlies, the lower body cladding tends to yellow with age

Just find a good painter who is willing to spray out a couple of panels and adjust the base formula

When my wife backed into some guy in a parking lot I had to get the rear quarter repainted. The guy told me that color sucks to match. He had to do 5 test shots to get the match right but it turned out good ( I thought?) A freind of mine says the repair sucks, He works at a Porshe, Audi, Infinity dealer as a body man. If or when I get my SVX repainted I'm having him do it

my old pearlie had the drivers side door repainted at a very reputable shop, i recieved over half my money back becuase they could not match the paint to their standards. In sunlight, looking at the door from a distance showed a nice big blotch

Paint

I bought my '92 Claret new. Before I bought my car, I had already read magazine reports stating that the Subaru Pearl paint would be difficult to match. I liked the Pearl and I liked the Claret, so I decided to go with Claret.

The SVX we bought this year is Pearl. Fortunately, all the panels match, at least for now! It's almost necessary to paint the whole car, at least everything matches.

When I had my pealie painted, they were quick to agree to paint the whole car so they would not have to worry about matching it. On the other pealie that I have, we are going to have to work at matching the bumpers. They need painting.
