On my recent trip to The Northwest I hit 3 birds...???
One was splatted into the engine compartment (blood oozed under the hood) ugh! but I never thought to take pictures of it's little feet sticking out (very like the picture above)

I also hit a crow and a seagull... glancing blows off the hood and windshield... no damage with any of the three hits...

What's up with these birds? .... I've never hit one before....

I had an odd string of bird-related incidents a few summers ago.

The first was on a country drive in the SVX. The grass was long and there were no shoulders. I came around a bend and a bird flew under the car. I didn't feel anything, so I figured I must've missed it. Then I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the cloud of feathers.

A couple days later I was on my way back to the office after having bought a sandwich at Subway. I was crossing the street when a bird dove behind me and around to my right, smacking a car, which was turning right. I believe the car was a Saturn and I remember the bird slamming square into the left rear door panel. It fell onto the pavement and seemed rather stunned, unable to stand up. I stood there, in the middle of the intersection, trying to decide whether to pick it up and risk it biting me and giving me some dreadful disease or leave it. I left it. I looked back a few times and saw it coming to, so I tell myself it was fine.

Later that day I was in our office manager's office, telling her about these weird incidents, when a rather large bird (possibly a pigeon) slammed head-first into the window.
