what the hell is this thing?
i managed to snap a plastic piece of my interior off a few days ago, and i want to replace it since it looks like the clips that hold it on are pretty much gone, but i cant figure out what the hell to call it. it's right in my driver's side door on the floor. pics should describe it better than i can, since i suck.

Here's a diagram showing the trim panel: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=940-B It looks like you can get the clips that hold it on separately for $1.47 each. It looks like you need four of them.

...why the crap does the 93 section have a "sealing and trim" section and the 94 section not have it? is that part going to work on a 94? and i wasnt talking about the little things it clips into, i was talking about the plastic things (i had assumed they were clippish, i cant get them out of the sockets they go into) since theyre all broken off. i know im about as nontechnical as they come, but i dont work on cars very often (i computers).

yeah i just took some more pics that should help explain things, lemme just resize and upload.
2 of the trim: and 1 of the piece broken off in the door: creative image names, eh? i guess i'll have to go off to the dealership tomorrow to make sure i get the right part. i had hoped to not have to drive all the way out there. Last edited by Darth Bagel; 07-01-2004 at 03:39 PM. |

It looks to me like those tabs are molded into the panel and you'll have to replace the whole thing. I wouldn't bother driving to the dealer - just order the part from subaruparts.com.

That's a door sill trim plate. Mine broke off two years ago and I fixed it with some heavy duty 3m double sided moulding tape. Worked like a charm and cost less than $4.

To heck with double sided tape, use thin velcro so you can still remove it to clean it out. (Keith is a NEAT freak about his car). I'm having the same problem with mine and since I'm lazy, havent bothered to replace it yet.

Some people just screw them in but it doesn't look very good at all.
I would also recommend adding double sided tape or velcro to hold it down. I had passengers keep hooking that piece with their feet when they get into the car. The sad part is I replaced the piece and the tabs broke off the new one within a week.
