i think it's competively priced. IMO, subarus in the past have been overpriced. as far as build quality, i have to disagree. until last october, i had a 2000 legacy gt limited. it had a far better build quality than the 2000 impreza i traded it for. quietest car i've ever owned, too. i just had no use for it when i discovered the svx.

Oh yeah, it is very competitively priced. Most people do think Subies are pricey but then again you have to add $1500 or so for the AWD system compared to an accord or camry.

Glad you had a good Legacy. Ours is definately the worst Subaru I've ever owned as far as build quality.

You are the third person to tell me about how disapointed they were in the quality of their '02-'03 Legacy/Outback.

Besides our SVXes, we've had '96 & '97 OBs and the build quality is first rate. Our '97 OB is a terrific little wagon. We can beat it to death and it still comes back for more.

Unfortunately I can't say I'm the only one. I've heard numerous people with issues similar to mine with 03s. Funny, you would think that late in the production line things would be at their peak. Esp with a poorer economy (i.e. less turnover and all). It is a great car. I wouldn't trade it for the new Mazda 6/Altima looking Legacy as it doesn't look like a Subaru at all to me but it is almost like a GM car of the 80s as far as Orange peel and fit and finish go. Granted the materials used in it are much better. They just don't fit together all that great.
