Know anything about Saabs?
Almost time to get the last one of my kids their first car. Unfortunately, each one of them has inherited my genetic disposition to trash their first car.
So, I found a 94 Saab (130k miles) with a claimed blown head gasket. Asking $800, but probably negotiable. Body & interior look very good for that price. So, recommendations? I'm also wondering what I should look out for when inspecting the car as I've never even opened the hood of a Saab before. |

First thing you gotta' do is find the ignition key switch. Once you've got that mastered, a Saab is just like any other Swedemobile, ya?
A good friend had an '88 turbo that would just SCREAM! at least when I drove it. If this is a turbo I suggest disabling it if you expect to ever see your last born again. Good luck - Ron.

A friend of mine just bought his 16 year old son a car. He spent much of the winter taking him out looking. He kept saying a very wise thing.
"I'm gonna let him get whatever he wants even if it is the biggest piece of crap on the planet because my parents got me a nice safe practical car that I went out and trashed within 6 months. Had they let me get what I wanted (a Camaro) at the time I would never have killed it". Needless to say he just bought his boy a Ponticlad Grand Am. I'm sure the kid is thrilled. I say take the kid shopping and let 'em get what they want with the understanding that you're paying for the car. They will pay for anything and EVERYTHING it needs.
