A little humor for gamers and/or parents of gamers

True story -- I was in the check-out line at a local video/gaming store a few days ago, where I overheard the following conversation between a nice, middle-aged woman and the young, knowledgeable saleperson:

Woman: "My son is getting a (some sort of gaming system; it's not important to the story) for Christmas. He's also getting a game -- Vice something?"

Saleperson: "Vice City?"

Woman: "Yes, that's it. He likes it because you get to shoot things. Do you have any other games where you get to shoot things? "!!

At this point, I started to laugh; the saleperson was trying not to. I said to him "A better question is 'Do you have any where you don't?'" His reply -- "Not many!"

Just thought I'd share that little bit of humor with the rest of you.

Yeah I saw that, it's like $35 for Vice City and $40 for ViceCity and GTA3. Kinda wish I didn't already have GTA3. There are alot of other cool games for like $20 now, like Stunt Man and NFS HP. I'll probly snatch them up.

If your gonna get VC, get it for PC, there are a ton of mods for it.

http://www.3dap.com/gta/rlm/
http://realgta.net/realgta/index.htm
http://www.gtagaming.com/

Maybe even someone around here thats good at this mod stuff can make an SVX mod for it. I have both GTA3 and VC, and I'm trying to get the PC versions cheap on eBay just for the mods. And I can't wait to try True Crime. It's been rented every time I've been to the video store. Hopefully it's better than The Getaway.

As for my current gaming endeavor, I got the Zelda Collectors Edition yesterday, so I'm knee deep in the original Legend of Zelda. And next is Zelda II, then I'm going to finally finish Zelda: OoT Master Quest.

My wife and I had a good story about Vice City from last Christmas. We were in a store and a lady was filling her kids' wish list. They had asked for, I think, eight PS2 games. One of them, which the lady was buying right there, was GTA:VC. My wife asked the lady how old her sons were, and I think the reply was '8 and 12.' So my wife asked her if she knew what the game was about. 'Oh, don't worry - I know that you steal cars and stuff. It's okay.' Convinced that this lady still didn't grasp how objectionable this game was, my wife started rattling off the bad things you can do in the game. Nothing really seemed to surprise the lady.

Then my wife mentioned the prostitutes.

This woman went nuts. She was so angry that she almost bought her sons a game with prostitutes in it. She called over her friend, who had apparently already bought and wrapped the game for her kids, but immediately swore she'd take it back.

GTA sales were heavily affected.

Anyway, the only game I got for Christmas was Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. I loved the first one to death, so I can't wait to play this one. I actually brought my PS2 (and my XBox) with me, but if I start playing Ratchet and Clank, I'll be pretty anti-social until we leave.

I just got Kingdom Hearts and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for PS2 as well as Max Payne 2 for PC. I might use some of my Christmas money to get Manhunt if it goes on sale because I refuse to pay $50 for a game.

My 8 year old is a crack shot with the sniper rifle in GTA3, she also likes to pick up the girls that um "need a ride" and then blow the car up with them inside. Don't worry we've moved on to more wholesum games like Barbies Hores Adventures

The latest game to grab my attention is Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Very pretty, easy to control, smooth learning curve and a lot of fun to watch/play.
