reverse fog lights are brighter than taillights and can be seen from farther away. it is a neat safety feature.

It is a neat feature but most cars are linked to the front fogs and it's annoying some morons have them on when it is 90 degrees outside. One of my pet peeves is the reverse fog lights that are one on the wrong condition since it looks like the guy is stopping.

i see your point. my friends are audi guys and their reverse fog lights work independently.

My friends have audis as well and on the A4, their reverse fog is only on one side. That is really odd looking. They got it right ont he A6 and A8 though.

Reverse fog lights have been around a long time. I remember seeing them in Germany in the '60s, and only on one side; probably to distinguish it from brake lights.
