Suby in police chase
Thought y'all might be interested in this front page story from the Cavalier Daily (student newspaper at the Univ. of Virginia) on July 17:
CITY POLICE CHACE STOLEN VEHICLE NEAR GROUNDS Police pur[s]ued the stolen Suburu for 20 minutes before being forced to give up the chase because of poor road conditions Tuesday morning Two Charlottesville police vehicles chased a car thief around Charlottesville, Albermarle County and Fluvanna County for 20 minutes Tuesday morning. A 1988 black Subaru station wagon was taken from a home in Albemarle County on Northwood Avenue, near the northeast end of the city.... City Police started chasing the thief in Albemarle County. The chase proceeded into the city of Charlottesville and near Grounds, down Jefferson Park Avenue, Maury Avenue and Shamrock Road. The chase ended in Fluvanna County when City police declared the road conditions too hazardous to continue the pursuit. "He pulled onto a gravel road off Route 620," Charlottesville Police Lt. Gary Pleasants said. "There were no lights on the road and the speeds were too fast...." ---- The link - http://www.cavalierdaily.com/CVArtic...16254&pid=1020 (shamelessly lifted from the wealth of knowledge on Nasioc)

I surprised they gave up so easily becouse of a dirt road. We had to go pull three cruisers out of a muddy corn field that they chased a stolen pathfinder into, and the trail into the corn field was very rocky. Cops usually take there crusiers anyware, what to they care it's not their car. They all got stuck and they cought the guys.

Well make that two that you have heard of, my 88 GL wagon got stolen from my work one weekend. I never thought anyone would think of stealing it so I left my keys in it all the time. Turns out the one night I leave it at the garage someone comes and steals the damn thing, found it later that week in the woods with two blown front tires, smashed windsheild, and they got the motor so hot it was melting the timming cover, needless to say it didn't run anymore.

ok soon to be 3
ok, to add to the list of most stolen cars, all owners leave your keys to your old subaru stationwagens in your visors. i'll go and steal your car (but won't run it into the ground like those little punks) and park it at the police station. i'll sneak away from the cops and leave your keys in your mailbox. would be funny to see in the list of most stolen cars in the county '88 gl subaru stationwagen'

My freind once lot his XT in Hartford for like three 4months. He thought it was stolen, called the cops and everything, bought 2 other cars within that time, one of witch was an 81Tercel with no heat that he drove all winter. Turns out he just forgot where he parked it. He hates it when I bring that up.
