Question P/S switch QUESTION

The switch with a 2 pronged electrical connector that screws into the output line just to the left of the P/S pump: 2 questions...

1. Is this just the sender for the signal that lights the P/S warning lamp on the dash when the belt is broken or you loose pressure? Or is it a more important (and/or vital?) part of the electronic speed sensitive system?

2. Looking at this switch body, with the white writing on the barrel up, which also means that there is, on the back, a dot at the top of the rectangular part where the wires go in, the name of the mfgr. on the upper part of the barrel and the word "Japan 10" on the lower part...

What wire coming out of the switch, left or right, given the orientation as described above, corresponds to the green/white stripe wire on the left side of the pigtail at the plug? The wire on the right side of this pigtail is ablack/white stripe.

Due to 15 years of heat, being sprayed with ATF/ water/ soap, etc. the wires both broke loose when I unscrewed this switch!!!

If, indeed it is just the signal for the warning light it may not even matter which wire is which... I don't want to screw anything up.
