My car hasn't seen any road salt to date. It spent the first 4,300 miles of it's life in California, and in the week (and counting)n that I've driven it in Virginia there's been no road salt.

Btw, when you say hit it with some anti-corrosion spray, would WD-40 do the trick?

Yikes. That's GT-R type maintenance bills!

I dunno. See what they're using on the forums. You're in a good position right now to keep it working for a long time. When I got mine, the speculation was that very cold weather killed it. Now it seems to be corrosion. I always made sure to get it washed often in winter at a car wash with underspray. I should probably do something, but its probably too late now. Could die tomorrow, could go another 60000 miles.

Yeah, but Super Sport mode is totally worth it!

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

Gotcha. Looks like CRC heavy duty is recommended, but WD-40 does work in a pinch.

I took a look at my AYC/ACD pump and it's super clean. I'll take the car through the car wash this weekend and really clean the underside of the car, and then hit the pump with it's first dose of anti-corrosion spray.

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

Btw Alan, what kinda gas mileage do you typically average with your MR? I've been averaging 25mpg often on my drive to work, and typically by the time I fill-up, she's averaged 22.5-23mpg for the whole tank.

16-18mpg.

i get maybe 22mpg if i'm on the highway (hardly ever) - its mostly suburbs/city driving for me. Cobb stage1 93 octane tune. its pretty much the same as i got in my LGT, so no real shock.

you're gonna like it.

my Cobb stage 1 Evo feels way stronger than my Cobb stage 2 LGT did. perfect for the daily driver - plenty of power and reliability. easy to install, too.

i'll post some pics up later, but i just got a Bluetooth OBDII adapter for $9 in the mail yesterday. i'm using my old Droid Bionic smartphone to display boost, voltage, coolant temp, MPG instant and average (for now, many parameters can be displayed) using the Torque app. can't wait to try it out on the way to work later ......

Cool! The stock power is great, but I definitely want to know what an extra 30+ whp feels like...

Cobb stage 1 w/ the Cobb high flow panel filter has been installed. This car has been transformed! I've never owned a car this fast before. Period.

Hoping to get necessary exhaust stuff to go Cobb stage 2 by the end of this year!!!!

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

Well...I'm making plans to be Cobb Stage 2 and protuned by the end of the year! This power thing is addictive...

I'm almost 6 weeks into ownership and still loving this car every day. She turns heads at gas stations, car washes and intersections and I've lost count at the number of thumbs up's I've gotten from random people at random times.

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

Did my first oil change on the car at 7,500 miles yesterday and what a pain to remove the 7 bolts to get the under body panel off to gain access to the drain plug and oil filter. It was otherwise uneventful...

Still averaging just over 25mpg on my drive to work. This car just keeps getting better and better!

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

i was flashing a new map with the Accessport and bricked my ECU.

apparently Mitsu's are a little more sensitive to battery voltage than Subaru's when flashing - it *should* have been pretty close to full charge, but AP decided to not recognize ECU, then car wouldn't start. shipped to Cobb to have ECU unlocked.

protip - when flashing your ECU, put it on a batttery charger.

i'm considering adding the backup camera to the factory nav. after driving the wife's FXT to work the last few days, i'm gonna miss how easy that thing is to parallel park. the Evo is kinda like a guess and a prayer. i will not miss the sloppy handling, loosey-goosey steering, brakes, and stereo, though.

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

Ouch - sorry to hear about your ECU getting bricked while flashing the car.

I've started to get busy with tennis again now that my season has switched from indoor to outdoor. The car has been rock solid and I'm still seeing 26+mpg on the highway. I absolutely love driving this car every day.
