Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

Considering it is 4:30AM here, no, not really. I just need to find the time tomorr..today to get up in the shop attic and get those lights down, which is not as simple of task as it sounds actually.

No, i meant 12K (actually i dug up my paperwork and it cost me $13,871) The salvage value of my car at the time was like $2000 so the insurance company totalled it and I bought it back and spent the insurance money and 2 grand of my own money to fix it back up. Keep in mind though, I had the work done at the dealership, I could have probably gotten the repairs done elsewhere for half that cost. I was paranoid though and wanted to make sure it was done right, and I thought the dealership was the best option for that.

Granted now, that was back in '00 and I knew for certain that I wanted this car and NEVER planned on getting rid of it. I flew out to California to buy the thing after all, so spending that much to get it back into shape wasn't even a question.

In your case, it doesn't sound like you want to keep it anyway, so it's probably best not to put that much money into it.

No. If you repair the car (no small expense), you'll have to drive it for awhile to get your money's worth. You'll not make enough on the sale to cover the cost.

If you've made up your mind to get rid of it, my guess is your best bet would be to find an enthusiast intent on restoration who'll give you a fair price... which, unfortunately, won't be much.

Subscribed. I'd like to know what you'd ask for the whole car.

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

The rear end of the car was repaired by the dealer last year after a hit and run so its practically brand new. The windshield is cracked and the airbag was deployed. But other than that the car is in good shape. I was thinking $1400 obo.

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

I would have sold it for 4k+ in good condition. Do you think 1200 - 1400 is reasonable?

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

Seems high to me in the condition. I have gotten a few with far less body damage for much less. Every car purchase has its quirks. blown trans, SMASH, electrical, what ever. Some lower the price more then others. Blown trans is the easiest to fix. Body damage costs the most...usually

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

Ok well considering that then maybe $800. I want the car to go but I want it to go to someone on here because I know someone will actually care about it or use the parts.

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

Does it have a clean title or was it totaled?

Re: Wrecked SVX best options?

The title is clean. It wasn't claimed as totaled. The transmission was rebuilt last year and the rest of the car is still in pretty good shape so I'm really wanting $900 obo.
