Photoshop question
Hey.... right now I'm using the cheap photoshop version at work, called Photoshop Elements. Anyway, I have a graphic that contains a lot of WHITE, and its a really delicate graphic. I want to layer it over another image, but in order to do that I have to erase all the 'white' in the image, leaving just the graphic. I've tried using the magic wand, but that doesn't work because it erases half the graphic (its a delicate image). Is there anyway to just click "Convert all white space to backround" so I can save it and have all the white parts be transparent?
Thanks! - Rob |

Not that I know of, but you could try one of two things fairly easily:
1. Increase contrast in the image so the white stands out more, then use the wand. 2. Use the wand and then deselect the image (I think it's ****+click)

In similar applications, I've zoomed into the various channels that allow the wand to leak into my image and "dammed them up" with a small line of black. Once I've removed the surrounding color, I've gone back in and removed the "dams." Dunno if that'll work in your case, but it has worked for me on several occasions.

Well.... the problem with those ideas is that this image is really complicated. It almost looks like a wire frame, so it would probably take me 5 hours to click on every speck of white to delete it. This stinks. If only I could export it in Gif89 format, but PS Elements lacks the ability to export. ACK.

When you are using the wand are you clicking on the object or the background?
Does "Elements" have a tolerance adjustment for that tool?

I noticed that , but I thought I'd leave it in as a note to my inability to type.
I should have mentioned to lower the tolerance with #2. What you would do is select everything, lower the tolerance, and then deselect the image. P.S. The **** key is available only on Windows based computers. What it does is make everything on your computer freeze, especially if you have not saved recently. The main problem with the **** key is it randomly changes positions and appears as a normal key. The oh **** key usually looks something like [I/O]

I'm in Photoshop right now.
Try increasing the tolerance and unchecking the contiguous box. This will take care of everything that's the same color, no mater if it's on the "other"side of a line or not. Now to ask my own question. Collins |

I can't. This is photoshop "ELEMENTS" which is the cheapy version. I already tried adjusting the magic wand but it doesn't have that option, apparently. :\
