EJ22T pistons

I've been researching the hell out of the SVX for a couple months now (month or so before I bought it is when I started) And I have ran into something.

A lot of people are apparently using EJ22T pistons in the EG33 block. I mean it makes sense, it is basically an EJ22 engine with 2 extra cylinders added on.

Now everything I have read of to this point is internet chatter. Some people claimed they run them and it lowers the compressions ratio. I would like to run them on my build, but a forged set and bore it .20 out. Let me know if anyone has any knowledge of this!

Re: EJ22T pistons

Who is running Ej22T pistons in an EG33? In this forum?

Man, compression will go waaaaaaaaay down to 7.1:1 (or something)...

And THE SEARCH BUTTON is your bestestest friend

Re: EJ22T pistons

AFAIK stock compression ration on the EJ22T is 8.0, so that would be the same as the compression you should get on the pistons swapped into the EG33.

Who told you that the head domes of both engines is the same for you to conclude that?

Cool Re: EJ22T pistons

Do cranks have same rotational offset??? also are they both using same con-rod length???

Re: EJ22T pistons

well doing more research, the pistons will drop cr to 7.9:1 which is just fine for me. The rods ARE the same as all EJ rods EXCEPT for N/A 2.5 rods. There is some Journal differences but EJ22T rods have the same journal sizing (48mm i believe)

Excellent, let us know about the build and outcome of your project.

BTW, here you saw the 7.9:1 compression or was it here?

Smile Re: EJ22T pistons

The NA 2.5L rods, years 2000 up are 1mm longer. The crank pin and piston pin are the same as SVX.

Use late 2.5L rods, and then trim the piston top accordingly. You will end up with a dish that is 1mm less deep, slightly raising the comp ratio. Of course the top ring will be 1mm closer to fire, but the compression distance is already substantial on these pistons.
