Blizzard Nemo

No Fish here, just Oceans of SNOW. Nearly 30 inches and still snowing like crazy, drifts six feet high on side of house, CRAZY. Havent seen it this bad since 78 Blizzard.

Re: Blizzard Nemo

We didn't get anything in Harrisburg, but I am going to Connecticut on Monday so hopefully the roads will be clear by then.

I think that's a Weather Channel thing. Adds drama! Intensity!

The next one is Winter Storm Orko. Yes, really. Listen to us! This is serious! Prep now!

Watched a sedan tumble over an embankment last weekend after it entered a curve way, way too fast for conditions: A dusting of snow. (The occupants emerged without serious injury.) At least you folks in the northeast know how to drive in the stuff.

Well I admit while driving during that storm I must have hit a patch of black ice along an otherwise snow coated but striaght back road and spun out. Driving in this with all season tires didn't help. About 20 minutes after my powersteering belt (which I swore was installed about 2 years ago) decided to turn into spaghetti. There's always a price for driving in bad weather whether you initally seeing it immediately or not.

I got about 6 inches on average around here. Luckily most of it was powder so it wasn't so difficult to shovel. I'm worried about the mixed forecast for Wednesday if the temperature goes down low enough. Saturday for NJ seems to be a shower, CT always gets it a lot worse.

It has been my observation... here, there, everywhere... that folks tend to drive at the very limits of control in any sort of inclement weather. A guy was killed here a few weeks ago after his small pickup hydroplaned and crossed a grassy median into incoming traffic, and it's little surprise because people bleepin' fly on that stretch of road. The driver of that car that went over that embankment simply let his guard down, entered an icy curve too fast, and off they went. Had I not been following him, if might well have been me.

Re: Blizzard Nemo

Milford, CT gets the title as highest Snow total, a whopping 38 inches. I measured 33 inches in a few level spots in my yard

Re: Blizzard Nemo

We only got about 6-8 inches up here but it made for some excellent skiing.
A little south and west of here got more than a foot with heavy winds.
The 401 East, the biggest highway in Ontario was closed for about 7 hours because of crashes.

Isn't naming storms a great way for climate change pundits to come back and say something like "Nemo was the biggest storm in NE history". Makes great press. So far it is ranking #5, last time I checked and, the disappointment is showing on the TWC reporters.
