Brembos

Hey guys, I am currently working on a project some may be interested in. Cadillac Brembo's on the front of the SVX with STi rotors. I should be acquiring a spare knuckle to start the bracket design in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Brembos

Interesting project. Personally, if Carbotech made some X-8 front pads for my SVX I'd be happy. I believe according to a talk with them a while back, if you send them the pad backing plate they'll customize a set for a rather bodacious price tag.

Good luck with your mod projects..pictures in the future hopefully ?

Re: Brembos

Definitely pictures. If there is enough interest, I will be looking into having the brackets made to sell. With the caddy Brembo's a front set (caddy Brembo's, plain Jane sti rotors and pads) would only cost about 300 bucks plus the bracket. ~100 a caliper, and about 100 for centric brake rotors, GM CTS-V brake pads(same as STi), and sliders. So this could be done very cost effectively. Or you could go for the expensive pads and rotors as well, bringing total price up.

Re: Brembos

Here is what I currently have for a rear brake set up. Brackets will be easy, the hard part will be finding something that can use the whole rotor space while having enough room to make a bracket. It is an STI rotor paired with a z32 rear 2 pot calipers.

Front needs work. STI rotor and Cadillac Brembo's yrilds no room for a bracket. Will be buying a 355mm NISMO rotor that should be a perfect fit.

Re: Brembos

Making anymore headway on this..will 17" rims allow enough room for your proposed set up?

Cheers

Re: Brembos

We did a group buy of front caliper brackets on Facebook last year. Darin Entriken had them made IIRC.

Not likely. Stock STi Brembos will attach to the stock SVX knuckles but our mounting lugs are spaced out farther than theirs. I tried it and my 17" STi BBS wheels wouldn't fit over the calipers. Had to throw on an 18" wheel to get clearance.

Yea. 18s required. And I have no interest in 6 pots. Especially not at $600 for brackets.

I have tried several different photo sharing sites. None seem to work -.-
