No place is a place to debate this. Life's too short to smear everything with hardly related propaganda and moaning. Maybe some bits of it are true, but this is a thread that a guy put together to say (and justifiably so) how cool a particular car is, and it turns into another sour explosion of modern tortured economics - problems that only Americans can dig for ways to ***** about, because they keep losing track of how bad it is in other parts of the world.

Just for a moment, think about whether what you're going to type will hold an ounce of merit. The significance of the price of gold and corrupt capitalism hold no standing in this thread. Nobody watches the farm animals with monotone voices to hear a counter to a disagreement. The wallowing and anger get a bit silly quickly. Got some to share? Hit ALT-F4 and count to twenty first.

To topic: In some ways, I do miss seeing that Pearly or that Silver in my driveway. Even though one was much less civilized, both were great machines. The countless features, the interior surfaces that make many modern ones seem cheap, the cruise control that is so many times better than that in my Miata... Subaru did do a lot of things right with the SVX that haven't been backed up by more modern machines although they should have.

The question that's really being asked here is this: Was the SVX that good, or is the Malibu simply that bad?

Yes, the Malibu is simply that bad.
My friend has a cobalt..it is like riding in a tin can with cheap plastic trim..
I had a 2005 cavalier coupe.. garbage..

I spent 4 hours driving a Nisan Versa to pick up my svx, most annoying car ever.
After about an hour of it I wanted to walk..it was that bad...
It spent the entire trip on the highway switching from 3rd to 4th.
The shift point is at 65mph.. not fun on a 65mph highway.

I am somewhat in the market for a new daily driver. I guess the Malibu and the Versa are to be avoided.

VW Corrado. Alfa SZ. BMW 8-series. Ford Probe if you want the flag on the car.

NO thanks, I already have a temperamental discontinued car from the 90s. Whatever I buy is not going to be more than a year or two old.

I had one too, a 1992 the last year of the 1st gen body style.

I loved that car. I still miss that car.
