Re: Windshields

It's heartening to consider that Subaru in the Sky may actually be mindful to the parts availability situation for these cars. (Where did I read just the other day of someone buying a NEW cupholder? I'd gotten the impression those were long gone.)

Now it's all the more important to keep the remaining fleet rolling and out of boneyards and consuming replacement parts to make it worth their while.

on this glass coverage is a must.
I replaced mine insurance took care of the bill, after installer fees I think insurance paid $1245.
Of course they paid full list price $1050 for glass alone.

Re: Windshields

I have had 3 windshields replaced on 3 different cars I the past 10 years . Wife may need one soon on the Acura TL, she keeps getting hit by rocks, Safelite Glass fixed it 2 times already. Insurance paid . Good to know there is a chance to get anew one . I wont be so afraid to drive it .

Re: Windshields

I'm just waiting for the insurance companies to wise up and consider paying for the cost of the windshield in relation to the value of the car.

Putting a $1200.00 windshield in a car worth only $800-1000.

Working the same way that they consider the car a total loss after an accident.

$3500 in repairs to a car valued at $2500 = doesn't get fixed.

Insurance value of the cars is more than that $1000 though. Even though you can widely buy them for cheaper than that. Someone local did have an insurance company not want to cover a windshield after paying out over $1500 on other damage a few months before but eventually had them cover it.

Re: Windshields

When I spoke with my young insurance agent(in my eyes you are all young!)
about glass coverage on the 92 Pearlie, he wondered aloud about spending "that much" on "an older car!"

He fell!
