Re: Grille Light Modification.
It’s ok. As you age sometimes your tastes change and when you get older you may not like flashing lights hidden in your car.
Look at Landshark, in 2006 he posted the list the top 10 Douchbag cars which he had the Evo as number 2 and now he drives one. Of course if the shoe fits him. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34798 From Landshark “Thanks to a mass marketed hype, Mitsubishi was able to jump into the douchebag market with the Mitsubishi EVO, an ugly piece of junk that can best be described as a turbocharged chinese takeout box. Because of the hype and aura surrounded by these douchemobiles, their owners think their cars are invincible, able to best every and any car on the road or track, inspite of reality. Again jealousy is an issue with the owners of these rolling dumpsters because we all know people just wish they owned a $30000 Lancer with a hopped up engine. Additional "technology" features (including a massive wing inversely proportional to the owners penis size) attract quasi-intelligent douchebags to these cars because they can pretend to explain how all the useless marketing features actually make their cars fast. Through extensive douchebag networking, a random douchebag always knows some other douchebag who is a friend of a douchebag with an Evo that runs single digits in the quarter mile. This information is b ogus, and often imparted by a douchebag trying to impress non-douchebags about a hyped up douchemobile that he doesn't own. Races with these uber-fast EVOs never materialize either. Fortunately, the hype on these vehicles is fading away, but egos remain higher than ever as a result, with douchebags desperate to prove how badass they can be by racing anything on the road.” |

aren't you the happy little detective! that was a snippet of a funny article i posted. i didn't write that. STi's were also made fun of, and i've always liked those. i was not really a fan of the pre-X Evo's, however. its nice of you to defend your ricey friend since you both love to cover your cars in stickers. look, i can dig up old threads, too! http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57851

Re: Grille Light Modification.
So what you are saying is you own the #2 ranked Doucebag car and want the #3 Doucebag car based on the Doucebag car ratings you yourself introduced to the forum several years ago. I think we all get the message you intended and reinforce with every letter you type on the keyboard.

what is a "doucebag"? i just read the second page of the thread you linked. it looks like i was pretty consistant. Quote:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._friendly.html i guess i should just sell it, so i can conform to a comedy article that was posted on the internets? you're clutching at straws. you should put some more stickers and lights on your car, and maybe then you'll have enough horsepow3rz to hang with a doucHebag car.

Re: Grille Light Modification.
I use my white LED grille lights anytime I drive, especially at night. The pattern is stationary and is at full brightness all the way across the grille.
It gets attention whenever I stop at a store or a gas station and turn off the ignition and the strip is still glowing. All I get is an occasional "you left your lights on" to which I reply "yeah, it does that" It actually puts out quite a bit of light, I can see it from behind the wheel and pull into my garage with the lights off. Great alternative to parking lights (of which I have none) How this mod was accomplished 15 years ago, using 2 backup light bulbs; Too old to just hang out in parking lots at night. (except for one weekend a year) The only car shows I enter are classic ones (40s,50, 60s) and they appreciate the uniqueness of the car without having to show off the toys. I have no interest in the Fast and Furious car shows, the Import-tuner, Testosterone Carnivals / Babe-athons, with the strobes and neon tubing and excessive lighting everywhere. Saturday Night Fever-mobiles with no soul or heritage. Now that's a sticker-rich environment!! Seen enough of this "Speed Racer" crap on the streets to last a lifetime. I don't like over-engineered cars. Hopping in, turning the key and releasing the clutch and letting ME drive is whats it's about. I don't want to get into a car, dial in my suspension preference, adjust my front-to rear traction ratio, decide if I want my electronic traction control to be engaged, etc. BEFORE I get on the gas. That's just letting some computer programming make all the decisions for me while I aim (not drive) and hope that it will save my a$$ if I ever do something stupid. Anyone who has ever driven true Muscle Cars with their raw horsepower, know the thrill of what I am talking about. Ramblings of an old fart who tells it like he sees it. Your opinions may vary .

to be honest, i really don't care what anyone does to their car, and my attempts at humor or goofy comments seem to be taken as vicious attacks sometimes, when that really isn't the intent. the OP asked for opinions on his lightbar, so i would think it would be expected that he might get some. i understand your point, and enjoy some good V8 power, but the engineer side of me likes high tech crap. i don't think i would enjoy pushing all kinds of buttons, either (Nissan GTR?) i get in the EVO and drive - after its warmed up, i may push the Sport or S-Sport button. if it snows, i'll set the AWC to "Snow". that's about it, really.

Re: Grille Light Modification.
If by stickers you are meaning Dayles dash kit, then yes I put his dash kit on but have plans to redo my entire interior with professional paint and custom fiberglass sections... But as far as stickers and rice.... You obviously have not seen much of my vehicles none of them have stickers on them and my svx is running a hydra nemesis catback exhaust and a custom intake, as well as a 5 speed. I also have plans for a complete build and turbo... No giant spoilers or stickers or fart cans or eBay chips here... So please sir tell me where the rice is? Lighting? Have you ever seen a tuner show car? No I don't have strobes or crazy 1000 neons in my car I have accent neons in the foot wells of each seat and matching converted dash lights... Last time I checked that was a classily done tuner but maybe your fat trend esc evo x the heaviest and least rally worthy vehicle of the evo line makes you better than us...

Re: Grille Light Modification.
Evos are butt ugly in my opinion. And an Evo is still a Lancer just like an STi is still an Impreza. I can probably strap a supercharged V8 on a VW bug and make it do 0-60 in 2 seconds but I probably wouldn't want to drive it every day or on long trips. Just my opinion.
